Text Splitter for AI

Split long text into numbered parts by character count.

How to use Text Splitter for AI

  1. Paste text or choose a local TXT or Markdown file.
  2. Set the maximum characters per chunk and optional overlap; keep overlap smaller than the chunk limit.
  3. Choose whether to prefer paragraph boundaries, split, then copy a chunk or download the ZIP.

What this tool does

Overlap repeats text; character counts are not model-specific token counts.

Example

With a 2,000-character limit and 100-character overlap, each later chunk repeats 100 characters from the previous chunk; remove that prefix when joining the pieces back together.

Frequently asked questions

Does the character limit equal an AI token limit?

No. The tool counts Unicode code points, not model-specific tokens. Use your model's own tokenizer or interface to check token limits.

Why does text repeat at the start of a chunk?

That is the overlap you requested. It keeps some context between adjacent chunks; set overlap to zero if you do not want repeated text.
